As a former Family Counselor working with Seniors and  their families—I understand how vital it is to make thoughtful and well-informed decisions.

Throughout my career, I’ve prioritized continuous learning, attending several universities while pursuing both my undergraduate and MBA degrees simultaneously. But more importantly, my personal experiences have shaped my heart for seniors, especially those in assisted care. Both of my parents faced challenges with Dementia and Alzheimer’s, spending their final years in assisted care facilities. Now, as a senior myself, I feel a deep connection to the unique needs and concerns of this community.

With a deep passion for helping seniors and their families, I have been dedicated to the field of elder care since 2012. I’ve proudly owned and operated an assisted living home since that time, giving me firsthand experience in providing compassionate, quality care. In 2014, I founded my own senior placement company, using my knowledge and connections in the industry to help families find the best living arrangements for their loved ones.

In addition to placement, I spent 8 years working as a care manager and patient advocate, ensuring seniors received the medical support, resources, and dignity they deserve. I studied at Yavapai Community College and the University of Phoenix, and continue to give back by leading an Alzheimer’s support group. My work is rooted in empathy, trust, and a commitment to walking alongside families during one of life’s most important decisions.

Susanne Schaeffer-Malkin, with an MSW in Social Work, has dedicated the past 37 years to improving the lives of seniors and their families. A graduate of The University of Arizona with a BA in Psychology (1988) and an MSW from New Mexico State University (1991), she began her career with Adult Protective Services as a Case Manager, where she gained extensive experience in investigations and senior care.
